Delta Reign release date and prerelease

Delta Reign comes out worldwide on Friday, November 6, 2026. Digital players get it a day early: the set unlocks in Pokémon TCG Live on November 5.

Prerelease season has already started. From October 24, Play! Pokémon stores can sell the Delta Reign Build & Battle Box, which is what you play with at a prerelease event. Prerelease uses a 40-card deck and four Prize cards instead of the usual 60 cards and six Prizes, so games are quick and very beginner-friendly.

Delta Reign is set code ME06 and the latest expansion in the Mega Evolution series, following Mega Evolution—Pitch Black. It's Standard legal from release.

What's in the Delta Reign set

The Pokémon Company lists the set at over 135 cards, with more than 20 Trainer cards and more than 35 cards with special illustrations. The official breakdown of the noteworthy cards:

  • Four Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
  • Six Pokémon ex
  • Six Stadium cards that make three Legendary Stadiums
  • 14 illustration rare Pokémon
  • 17 ultra rare Pokémon and Trainer cards
  • Six special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards

Delta Reign chase cards: the first official look

The Pokémon Company has released the first official card images for Delta Reign: all four Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and one of the new Legendary Stadiums. The illustration rares and special illustration rares haven't been officially shown yet, so expect the chase list to grow as release day gets closer.

Mega Rayquaza ex

Mega Rayquaza ex is the face of the set, and it's a big deal for longtime collectors. According to The Pokémon Company, this is the first time Mega Rayquaza has appeared in the TCG since XY—Ancient Origins back in 2015. Expect it to be the card everyone is chasing.

It's also built to be played. Unusually for a Mega, it's a Basic Pokémon with 280 HP, so it goes straight onto your Bench without evolving. Its Ability, Ruler's Roar, checks the top four cards of your deck for a Basic Energy to attach when you bench it. Its attack, Storm Emerald, does 50 damage for each Fire and Lightning Energy attached to all of your Pokémon. That's a big number in a deck that spreads Energy around.

Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex and Mega Malamar ex

The other three Megas each do something different:

  • Mega Golisopod ex (011/103, Grass, 340 HP): Finishing Blow hits much harder against a Pokémon that's already damaged, and Quadruple Hold stops the Defending Pokémon from retreating.
  • Mega Golurk ex (047/103, Psychic, 350 HP): Goliath's Punch does 300 damage, but the Restricted Activation Ability means it can only attack when you have 10 or more cards in hand. Expect some creative decks built around that.
  • Mega Malamar ex (069/103, Darkness, 320 HP): Psychic Marionette scales with the size of your opponent's Bench, and Eerie Wave does 200 and leaves them Confused.

Legendary Stadiums: the new mechanic

Delta Reign's new feature is the Legendary Stadium. It's two Stadium cards played as a pair, and side by side the two halves form one extended piece of art. There are three in the set, made from six Stadium cards.

The first one revealed is Legendary Summit. Neither half can be played by itself: you combine the two different halves and play them as a single Stadium. In play, it changes how many Prize cards are taken when certain Pokémon are Knocked Out, so expect it to shake up the Mega matchups.

The detail collectors will appreciate: if a booster pack contains a Legendary Stadium, it includes both halves. You won't open one half and spend months hunting for the other.

Delta Reign products: what's in each box

Here's what each product contains, taken from the official Pokémon product showcase.

Booster display box

36 booster packs. Each pack has 10 cards and one Basic Energy. This is the best-value way to open a lot of packs and work toward a master set. See our current Pokémon booster boxes.

Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box

The Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box includes:

  • 9 booster packs
  • 1 full-art foil Kyogre promo card
  • 65 card sleeves
  • 40 Energy cards
  • Damage-counter dice, a coin-flip die and a plastic coin
  • A storage box and a player's guide

The Pokémon Center version adds two extra packs (11 total) and a second Kyogre promo with a Pokémon Center stamp. It's sold only through Pokémon Center, not at local game stores.

Build & Battle Box

4 booster packs, a 40-card ready-to-play deck, one of four foil promos and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. The four promo options are Masquerain, Magmortar, Enamorus and Kommo-o, and each one anchors a different deck:

  • Masquerain: a Grass deck built around a cheaper version of the Bug Out attack first seen in Pitch Black.
  • Magmortar: Fire and Lightning, with an Ability that powers up Magmortar and Electivire.
  • Enamorus: an Ability that ignores Colorless Energy in attack costs, shared with Thundurus, Landorus and Tornadus.
  • Kommo-o: a Dragon deck that accelerates Energy onto your Dragon-type Pokémon.

Booster bundle and blisters

The booster bundle holds six packs, and it's a good middle ground if you want more than a few packs without buying a full ETB. Single-pack checklane blisters and three-pack blisters round out the line-up for casual openers.

Which Delta Reign product should you buy?

  • Chasing Mega Rayquaza ex or a master set: the booster display box. 36 packs is the most cards for your money.
  • Want packs plus everything to start playing: the Elite Trainer Box. The sleeves, Energy and dice are genuinely useful, and you get the full-art Kyogre promo.
  • New to the game or buying a gift: the Build & Battle Box. You get a deck you can play straight out of the box, plus four packs.
  • Just want to rip a few: the booster bundle or a blister.
